About the branch

IWA West Country Branch is very active thanks to its enthusiastic committee. As a branch we cover the inland waterways across Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Dorset and we have lots going on –  from running regular canal clean-up work parties to leading local waterways campaigns.

In November 2024, the Branch responded to Somerset Council’s consultation on its Taunton Waterways Strategy – Read the Branch’s response.

See our report celebrating 50 years of waterway progress in Somerset and Mid-Devon – published February 2024.

A video of a March 2024 litter clearance by the branch at Bridgewater is available here.
