Easy Countryside and Waterway Guided Walk ~ In Cheshire and Free.
This free guided walk is open to the general public, and suitable for beginners. If you’re keeping fit and well and wish to come along and join us, we would love to see more guest visitors. Please book your place for the walk as soon as you are confident you will be available.
The walk is partly circular and along good hard paths all the way, with no stiles, gates or other obstacles. Starting with urban streets in the northern suburbs of Chester, then along a bridle path through Chester Zoo with a good chance of spotting exotic animals. We make a short diversion to the elephant enclosure, which we can enjoy without going through the turnstiles. We then walk along a very rural lane to Croughton with excellent views across the valley. As we return along the Shropshire Union Canal excellent towpath, which is part of the North Cheshire Way, there is a long line of moored boats to admire. Then we finally return by walking back through the zoo and arrive back at the pub for lunch.
There will be a ten-minute break about half-way round the walk for ‘bring your own’ refreshments.

The length of this walk.....
.....is only 4¼ miles, and at a slow pace - so we won’t walk too fast for you.
This walk is suitable for all adults having good mobility. Excellent for friendly dogs, but risky along the lane for wheelchairs. Suitable footwear will be anything stout and flat soled; trainers will be fine. If it has recently been raining heavily there could be a few occasional puddles. The pub toilets will be available at the finish of the walk; and hopefully at the start.
Assemble at 10.15 am for a 10.30 start. Finish about 1.15 pm.

I will then phone you back for your details; and at the same time, if you wish to book a place for the pub lunch afterwards please ask and I’ll need to know your choice of meal or snack.
