Easy Countryside and Waterway Guided Walk ~ In Cheshire and Free.
The photo shows a narrowboat cruising along the Shropshire Union Canal in early spring near Christleton, Chester.
This free guided walk is suitable for beginners, so if you’re keeping fit and well wish to come along and join us we would love to see guest visitors again. Please book your place as soon as you are confident you will be available.
This circular walk from Christleton, Chester; will be about 3.75 miles long and along well used footpaths all the way. You will pass a delightful village duck pond, and walk along pleasant footpaths, across meadows, alongside agricultural fields and down rural county lanes. The return route uses a long-distance footpath most of the way, including long sections following the Shropshire Union Canal. A short length may be quite muddy after heavy rain. You’re unlikely to meet any farm animals, but may pass close to fields with horses. There are no stiles to climb, although portly walkers may find a couple of the snickets a bit of a squeeze. There are a variety of kissing gates; all are in good order and again, the walk is level all of the way, and should be fine for dogs.
There will be a ten minute break half-way round the walk for ‘bring your own’ refreshments and this walk will finish with an optional pub lunch.

The walk is suitable for children, teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Ideal for dogs, and walkers with buggies should be able to cope easily with the few snickets along the route. In fact, with the assistance of a small team of helpers, it will even be good in summer for wheelchairs. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. There are no picnic tables or bench seats on the route, and the only facilities are to be found in the pub at the start and finish of the walk.
To book, send an email to the walk’s organiser & guide: – [email protected]
If bringing a partner, please give both your names, and if you wish to book a place for the pub lunch afterwards please ask. Places are limited so it’s best to make an early booking.
