Join us for a morning 4.5 mile circular guided walk through the pretty Caldy village, across heathland, past the River Dee estuary, and along the Wirral Way.
The walk starts with a stroll through the pretty Caldy village, near the northern end of the east Wirral coast, then along bridal paths and up and across the National Trust heathland on top of the hill, pausing to gaze down to the Dee estuary and the Welsh hills beyond. We will climb up to the old Mariner’s Beacon, then down again and along the Wirral Way to West Kirby. Walking through the town we continue round the Marine Boating Lake, along the headland, and finish strolling along Caldy’s fine sandy beach to the car park.
Accessibility: You will need to be fit and agile for this walk. If there has recently been heavy rain the paths could be muddy with numerous puddles so boots would be recommended, otherwise stout trainers will be fine. As you are likely to encounter prickly gorse on the heath avoid wearing shorts.
Covid-19 safety: IWA Chester & Merseyside Branch asks that attendees have received their third Covid jab at least two weeks before the walk.

On the Thursday before the walk a reminder will be sent to everyone who has booked in – which will also give details of where you will need to park.
We will have a ten minute refreshment break half-way round the walk for ‘bring your own’ refreshments. There are several pub toilets in West Kirby near the end of this route.
Email [email protected] to book places on this walk. Confirmation that you are booked in will be sent to you. The deadline for booking is 8.00 pm – Saturday, 12th February – just before the walk.
We will assemble at 10.15 am. for a 10.30 start; and should finish back at the parking place early afternoon, probably about 1.30 pm.
