The photo shows a section of the walk where the path is along the dividing wall between the enclosed salt water Boating Lake on the left, and the Dee estuary on the right. At high spring tides the estuary washes over the path to top up the lake.
There is no charge to join this walk. It’s the one we had to cancel in February due to stormy weather, so we’ll try again. We had a nice group of 20 members attending the recent challenging walk at Waverton; and for this next walk we would love to see guest visitors again. If you had your Covid booster before the end of March, and wish to join us please book your place when you are confident you will be available. Booking confirmations will be sent asap. Again, there will be no walks that finish with a pub lunch, until the Covid infection rate becomes lower.
We will have a ten minute refreshment break half-way round the walk for ‘bring your own’ refreshments. There are several pub toilets in West Kirby near the end of this route.

DESCRIPTION
4½ miles
This circular guided walk starts with a stroll through the pretty Caldy village, near the northern end of the east Wirral coast, then along bridal paths and up and across the National Trust heathland on top of the hill, pausing to gaze down to the Dee estuary and the Welsh hills beyond. We will climb up to the old Mariner’s Beacon, then down again and along the Wirral Way to West Kirby. Walking through the town we continue round the Marine Boating Lake, along the headland, and finish strolling along Caldy’s fine sandy beach to the car park. If there has recently been heavy rain the paths could be muddy with numerous puddles so boots would be recommended, otherwise stout trainers will be fine. As you are likely to encounter prickly gorse on the heath avoid wearing shorts. You will need to be fit and agile for this walk.

On the Thursday before a walk everyone who has booked in will be sent a reminder, and also the details of where to park.
Assemble at 10.15 am for a 10.30 start. Finish about 1.00 pm.
