Easy Countryside and Waterway Guided Walk ~ In Cheshire and Free.
This free guided walk is open to the general public, and suitable for beginners. If you’re keeping fit and well and wish to come along and join us, we would love to see more guest visitors. Your guide for this walk will be Gill Samson. Please book your place for the walk as soon as you are confident you will be available.
This Saturday circular walk will be along well used footpaths or hard paths all the way. For an old industrial location, it is now surprisingly green, pleasant, and very popular with local folk. The entire canal on this route is just about still in water, and the attractive scenery makes the route well worth a visit from every hiker. In addition to the pleasant scenery most of the occasional buildings are quite modern, and it’s a very enjoyable and easy walk for everyone. The entire route has excellent hard paths all the way, most of them are quite wide and some are restricted access rural tracks. There are occasional snickets but no kissing gates or stiles. There is a long gradual slope on one section but most of the route is quite flat.
There will be a ten-minute break about half-way round the walk for ‘bring your own’ refreshments.

This walk is suitable for all adults having good mobility. Excellent for friendly dogs, good for buggies but difficult for wheelchairs in places. Suitable footwear will be anything stout and flat soled and trainers will be fine, but boots will be the best after heavy rain as there could be a few occasional muddy patches. The bistro toilets will be available at the finish of the walk; and hopefully at the start.
Assemble at 10.15 am for a 10.30 start. Finish about 1.30 pm.
To book, send an email to the walk’s organiser & guide – [email protected]
If you are bringing a partner please let me know both your names.
It turns out that the pub we were going to use has been temporarily closed since lockdown and there is no indication when it will be re-opening. So, there will be no lunch after this walk; but for those who are starving there is ‘The Trawlerman’ take-a-way chippy you’ll be passing close to your parking place.
On the Thursday before the walk, everyone who has booked in will be sent a reminder, and also the details of where to park your car.
The deadline for booking a place just for the walk is Saturday 15th March at 9.00 pm. – the night before the walk.
A booking confirmation will be emailed to you.
