Easy Countryside and Waterway Guided Walk ~ In Cheshire and Free.
This free guided walk is open to the general public, and suitable for beginners. If you’re keeping fit and well and wish to come along and join us, we would love to see more guest visitors. Please book your place for the walk as soon as you are confident you will be available.
This excellent New Year circular walk will be about 4.25 miles long and although much of the walk is along footpaths which are not often used, the first part is along well-trodden paths and very pleasant indeed. As you enjoy the main feature of this walk – the canal towpath, you will soon be passing the famous staircase locks and perhaps see a boat navigating through. The are some meadows to cross, so if you have one bring a walking stick in case we need to fend off the odd nosy cow. As this is the winter New Year Walk, several short sections may be quite boggy. However, most of the many stiles are in good order and, apart from the short steep climb up Tilston Bank, most of the route is fairly flat.
There will be a ten-minute break about half-way round the walk for ‘bring your own’ refreshments.

This walk is suitable for all adults having good mobility. Excellent for friendly dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs. Suitable footwear will be anything stout and flat soled; boots will be the best. If it has recently been raining heavily there could be a few boggy patches and wellies would be better. The pub toilets will be available at the finish of the walk; and hopefully at the start.
Assemble at 10.15 am for a 10.30 start. Finish about 2.00 pm.
To book, send an email to the walk’s organiser & guide – [email protected] If you are bringing a partner please let me know both your names.
If you wish to book a place for the pub lunch afterwards please book your own table. Places at the small group table are restricted due to a large christening party. You can inspect the sample Sunday lunch menu here: – View the Menu
On the Thursday before the walk, everyone who has booked in will be sent a reminder, and also the details of where to park your car or moor your boat.
The deadline for booking a place just for the walk is Saturday 11th January at 9.00 pm. – the night before the walk.
A booking confirmation will be emailed to you.
