Easy Countryside and Waterway Guided Walk ~ In Cheshire and Free.
The photo shows a line of colourful moored narrowboats near the end of the walk. The bridge carries the A38 over the Bridgewater Canal at Higher Walton.
This free guided walk is suitable for beginners, so if you’re keeping fit and well wish to come along and join us we would love to see guest visitors again. Please book your place as soon as you are confident you will be available. The circular walk starts with a delightful wooded canal cutting, then follows a long length of the canal before passing through a wide variety of countryside delights. The paths are all excellent with no stiles, kissing gates or narrow footbridges. Suitable for walking at any time of the year, there is only one easy latched gate to pass through, and no stiles. This makes the route excellent for dogs too. The slopes are not very steep, and from the path along by the wood at the top of the hill there is an excellent panoramic view across to distant Warrington.
There will be a ten minute break half-way round the walk for ‘bring your own’ refreshments and this walk will finish with an optional pub lunch.

The walk is suitable for children, teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Ideal for dogs, and walkers with buggies should be able to cope easily with the few steps along the route. In fact, with the assistance of a small team of helpers, it will even be good in summer for wheelchairs. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. There are no picnic tables or bench seats on the route, and the only facilities are to be found in the pub at the start and finish of the walk.
