Please join us for our next Open Talk of the season: ‘Water Management of Canals in the North West‘ by Kathryn Smith on Wednesday 8 February 7.15pm in the Castlefield Hotel. Please note the changed day of the open talk: we will be meeting on Wednesday this time.

Kathryn Smith is one of the Canal and River Trust’s Principal Hydrologists supporting the North West region. The talk will delve into the challenges faced by the canals in the North West and examine the hydrological issues they have encountered in recent years, including the drought of 2020. The talk will explore the future requirements for the waterways, highlight the benefits they bring to the region and give a comprehensive overview of what actions can be taken by everyone to ensure the sustainability of these important waterways.

We will start gathering 7.15pm at the Castlefield Hotel on Liverpool Rd Manchester (M3 4JR) for 7.30pm start in the Bridgewater Suite (ground floor). The entrance to the hotel is on the side facing towards Deansgate overlooking the Castlefield outdoor arena. The talk will start 7.30pm.
