Join us for an online talk on the impact of HS2 on the Colne Valley Park and across the Chilterns.

This talk will be presented by Keith Hoffmeister, and hosted by IWA Chiltern Branch.

Keith is a member of The Chiltern Society and is their researcher and reporter on HS2; his reports represent the impact that HS2 will have across the Chilterns.

His comments are relevant to Harefield and Denham where a viaduct will cross Harefield Marina and the Grand Union Canal. It will also impact fishing lakes and the London Borough of Hillingdon HOAC (Hillingdon Outdoor Activity Centre) water activity training centre at Denham. There are also concerns the plans for a ‘cut-and-cover’ tunnel may alter water supply to the chalk streams and aquifers in the Wendover area and to the Wendover Arm and Tring Reservoirs.

It’s easy to join using a smart phone, tablet or desktop computer.

Waterway underfunding

Hundreds of miles of waterways – along with their unique heritage and habitats – are currently starved of funding and rely on constant lobbying by us to safeguard their future.

Sustainable Boating

We want boating on canals and rivers to be more sustainable and – even though the current overall contribution to UK carbon emissions is very small – we want to help reduce emissions on the waterways.

Waterways Heritage at Risk

Britain’s canals and rivers are a unique, living heritage. But that heritage is at risk – from urban development, lack of protection, loss of skills and knowledge and climate change.

You can help Save Waterways Heritage.

Waterway restoration

Restoring the UK’s blue infrastructure – our inherited network of navigable canals and rivers – is good for people and places.
