Grand Union Canal Trip
Back

IWA Chiltern Branch has organised a day trip cruise on the 1st May along the Grand Union Canal departing Nash Mills in Hertfordshire.  Many of you have not ventured out to our evening social talks, but this being a day trip we hope may be something to interest you, plus the opportunity to meet up with branch friends.

We have chosen a Waterways Experiences accessible wide beam boat, the 4-hour cruise includes tea/coffee upon arrival, a good buffet lunch, and afternoon tea and cakes.  All this for just £30, so what’s not to like about it!  Please complete the booking form and email or post to Colin Bird, who will confirm availability and then you can make your payment.

Waterway underfunding

Hundreds of miles of waterways – along with their unique heritage and habitats – are currently starved of funding and rely on constant lobbying by us to safeguard their future.

Sustainable Boating

We want boating on canals and rivers to be more sustainable and – even though the current overall contribution to UK carbon emissions is very small – we want to help reduce emissions on the waterways.

Waterways Heritage at Risk

Britain’s canals and rivers are a unique, living heritage. But that heritage is at risk – from urban development, lack of protection, loss of skills and knowledge and climate change.

You can help Save Waterways Heritage.

Waterway restoration

Restoring the UK’s blue infrastructure – our inherited network of navigable canals and rivers – is good for people and places.
