Held in the picturesque village of Marsworth, Buckinghamshire, this rally combines the charm of steam engines along with the creativity of local artisans.
A Unique Fundraising Exercise
A stall at this event is one of the highlights of the year for IWA Chiltern Branch fundraising. This year, the proceeds of £500 went towards supporting the branch’s winter speaker programme and various restoration projects including the work on the nearby Wendover Canal. Attendees were able to purchase boat-related articles, including bird boxes, bug houses and planters crafted from offcuts, showcasing the ingenuity and resourcefulness of IWA volunteers.
A Sunny Day by the Water
The fair took place on a sunny day, with blue skies from morning to the close of the show. Families enjoyed admiring the displays and browsing the stalls. Children’s laughter mingled with the distant chug of steam engines, creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie.
Exhibits and Displays
Visitors were treated to a variety of exhibits and displays in the show arena. Here are some highlights:
- Vintage steam engines trundled along emitting smoke.
- Military vehicles in camouflage colours.
- Classic cars spotlessly polished by their owners.
- Agricultural tractors in many colours.
- Trailer rides around the adjacent field
- Children’s vintage fairground
- Music to listen to while enjoying your lunch purchased from the many food outlet stalls.
- Bar to quench your thirst on that sunny Sunday.
The tea and cake stall completed your day.
