IWA Milton Keynes Branch adopted Fenny Stratford Lock in 2012. The adoption also includes the Grand Union Canal between Bridge 94 (Watling Street) and Bridge 96 (Simpson Road).
Under the adoption, the Branch is responsible for all the non-mechanical maintenance of Fenny lock and its environs. We also look after the towpath area between the two bridges.
The volunteer work parties have made a significant impact on the area already. The lock gates, bollards, swing bridge, Pump House, sanitary station and fencing have been repainted, as part of the work. We have installed a lock garden and we control the weeds and vegetation in th area.
