This is an easy grade walk. Good walking boots/shoes are recommended. The walk starts at Plox Brow, near to the moorings for the Ribble Link. A new waymarked route, the Henry Alty Way follows the River Douglas down to the boatyard at Hesketh Bank, passing the site of the old brickworks and the former West Lancashire Railway on the old track bed of a short lived branch railway. We return to the Plox Brow car park on the same route taking in the local history from the 19th and 20th Centuries.
Meet at Canal and River Trust’s Plox Brow car park (postcode PR4 6ES) next to Town End swing bridge, 9.45am for 10.00 a.m. start.
