WRG BITM normally has a working party once a month.
We will be removing fallen trees from the Bray Cut, a side stream of the Thames, which is being restored to enable navigation through the middle of Maidenhead. This is the second of two weekends to clear about 400m, including 10 major obstructions.
This time we’ll be working downstream of the Bailey Bridge, towards the M4. Access is easier than usual – we can park in the field right next to where we’re working. Teams pulling on ropes will be needed, as well as Tirfor winch teams – there’s loads of stuff to clear before we can get at the bigger stuff. No bonfires – everything is to be stacked on the bank (unless you have a desire to take any logs home…) Chainsaw operators needed. Canoes would be useful if anyone can bring one.
Accommodation is booked at the Scout Hall in Clewer, on the outskirts of Windsor for Friday and Saturday nights (work on Saturdays and Sundays). Shower available.
