This task day is a special one – we are also celebrating a significant 10 year Anniversary. In 2013 we formally adopted The Arm, taking responsibility for it’s general maintenance from CRT. The celebration will be at The Memorial Garden by locks 6& 7, at 12.00, and there will be refreshments. Invitations have gone to some CRT staff, local dignitaries and press.
The Northampton Arm is maintained by volunteers – and you’re welcome to join us! We are a friendly band of workers, meeting regularly to look after the canal.
Our work parties are usually held one weekday and one Sunday a month, along the Arm. We are proceeding with task parties using Covid safe working practices. Some of the most common tasks that we undertake include vegetation clearance, weeding, litter picking and painting of locks. There’s more but we can’t list them all here! It’s a good day that will give a sense of achievement for you and the canal environment, amongst a group of like minded people.
So if you’d like to join us please contact Geoff Wood, he’ll give you details of start points and parking. Please bring a packed lunch and wear suitable clothing. Any tools required are provided. Start points vary depending on work the to be carried out. Full PPE & life jackets will be provided if the nature of the work requires it.
