On both days towpath walkers collect, accumulate and bag rubbish from the towpath and canal fringes. All bagged and secured it is left at bridge holes whence it is collected by the flotilla accompanying the walkers. Walkers work in pairs as a minimum, and are accompanied by experienced leaders who will provide guidance on handing all items, including sharps, as necessary.
A Tea Boat accompanies towpath walkers throughout, stopping at pre-determined locations. Hot and cold drinks, cakes and biscuits available, at no charge.
All necessary equipment provided. Participants must provide their own, suitable clothing and work protection, suitable boots. Pre-registration is essential, and includes the need to declare any medical or other conditions that might affect ability to attend. Attendees are required to sign in and sign out on each day.
Attendees are welcome as members of IWA, The Parks Trust and CRT. Other attendees are welcome as members of invited corporate community involvement teams as part of their community programme. They must be under the overall management of a community team leader and be known to that employer. Any individual wishing to join the weekend must demonstrate their ability to work alone and, along with team members, be prepared to accept any requirements and instructions issued by the team leaders. In addition, any children must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian, of adequate fitness to take part.
In the first instance, regardless of any affiliation or membership of IWA, CRT, The Parks Trust of other involved work group, please ensure that you pre-register using this form / layout (which can be pasted into an e-mail).
