Every year we run a Leadership Training Day for volunteers running Canal Camps and for those who are interested in getting involved or considering giving it a go.   This year’s Leadership Teams Day is on Saturday 31st May at its traditional location of Rowington Village Hall, Warwickshire, and starting formally at 10.00 a.m.

The Day is open to existing and aspiring WRG Canal Camp leaders, assistant leaders and cooks. Those making up the WRG leadership teams this year are very strongly encouraged to attend.  Work party leaders for waterway restoration groups are also very welcome to attend, to share and compare their experiences against WRG’s.

The day’s programme will be concentrating on updating Leadership Teams with all sorts of matters relevant to running safe, happy and successful Canal Camps in 2025.

If interested, please send an enquiry to [email protected].

Waterway underfunding

Hundreds of miles of waterways – along with their unique heritage and habitats – are currently starved of funding and rely on constant lobbying by us to safeguard their future.

Sustainable Boating

We want boating on canals and rivers to be more sustainable and – even though the current overall contribution to UK carbon emissions is very small – we want to help reduce emissions on the waterways.

Waterways Heritage at Risk

Britain’s canals and rivers are a unique, living heritage. But that heritage is at risk – from urban development, lack of protection, loss of skills and knowledge and climate change.

You can help Save Waterways Heritage.

Waterway restoration

Restoring the UK’s blue infrastructure – our inherited network of navigable canals and rivers – is good for people and places.
