Campaign Cruise event graphic

Support the campaign cruise and help us to get the message across to government that increased funding for Britain’s waterways really matters.

Booking for boats has now closed. But Fund Britain’s Waterways is not just about boating. The risk to our waterways is equally important for all towpath users, so we invite everyone to join in by showing their support from Westminster Bridge.

The flotilla will travel upstream along the Thames from West India Dock and aim to pass under Westminster Bridge at 14:11 on 14/11, weather permitting. The boats will then lay off the Palace of Westminster for around 10 minutes and collectively sound their horns to draw the attention of Parliament and the general public to the need to safeguard the future of Britain’s inland waterways.

If you are able to join us on Westminster Bridge, please send a WhatsApp message to 07734 038297 to join the supporters’ group. In this way you will be updated on the progress of the boats and their expected time of arrival at Westminster.

Waterway underfunding

Hundreds of miles of waterways – along with their unique heritage and habitats – are currently starved of funding and rely on constant lobbying by us to safeguard their future.

Sustainable Boating

We want boating on canals and rivers to be more sustainable and – even though the current overall contribution to UK carbon emissions is very small – we want to help reduce emissions on the waterways.

Waterways Heritage at Risk

Britain’s canals and rivers are a unique, living heritage. But that heritage is at risk – from urban development, lack of protection, loss of skills and knowledge and climate change.

You can help Save Waterways Heritage.

Waterway restoration

Restoring the UK’s blue infrastructure – our inherited network of navigable canals and rivers – is good for people and places.
