Lapal Canal – CC202309

The Lapal Canal Trust was established in 1990 by a group of environmental and canal enthusiasts with the objective of restoring the Dudley No 2 Canal from Selly Oak to Halesowen. The Trust are now focused on restoring the canal from Selly Oak to California. Work went on for most of last year on creating a new wharf and turning basin on the Worcester & Birmingham Canal to enable visiting boats to enter the Lapal Canal. At present there is an informal path between the bridge and the towpath. Volunteers will be engaged in making this path suitable for all users. The path consists of a switch-back ramp and pedestrian steps. A post and rail fence will be erected where the ramp turns through 360 degrees.
