Join us for this online planning consent workshop hosted jointly by IWA and CRT.

Lewis Bankes-Hughes is a Delivery Planner at the Canal & River Trust. He has worked on a number of projects for the Trust including the replacement of School House Bridge on the Montgomery Canal. This workshop will explore the key elements of the planning process, and its relationship to the successful delivery of a canal restoration project.

The workshop will provide an opportunity to learn more about:

• pre-application advice,
• consultation,
• preparing and submitting a planning application and
• implementation of an approved scheme.

The planning consent workshop will also provide an brief overview of other key planning considerations including:

• permitted development rights,
• listed building consent,
• Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) requirements and
• how to build a successful relationship with your Local Planning Authority.

This planning consent workshop is primarily aimed at those with limited experience of the planning process. In particular, those who are involved with or are interested in the planning and/or delivery of a canal restoration project.
