Dear IWA Member This is a short note to let you know that we have two opportunities, which started last weekend, for you to see both our canals calendar for 2025 and our IWA Christmas cards. The pop-up charity Christmas card shops in Shrewsbury and Oswestry both began their 6-week seasons, as detailed below, and obviously the sooner you can visit, the greater the choice you’ll find. Alternatively, you can also see the calendar and Christmas cards online and, if you’re not able to visit either shop, there are details of a mail order service available which has various payment options. Our calendar is produced on quality paper, spiral bound and opens to A3 size with superb photographs of some of the wonderful waterways within our Branch area. It makes an ideal companion for all next year on your, or on your friend’s, wall. - The Shrewsbury shop is within St Mary’s Church in the centre of town and opens Mondays to Saturdays, 10.15am – 4 pm, 25 October – 7 December 2024.
- The Oswestry shop is within St Oswald’s Church in the centre of town and opens Mondays to Saturdays, 10.15am – 4 pm, 26 October – 9 December 2024.

and at: www.waterways.org.uk/shrewsburynorthwales While writing we would also like to draw your attention to an exhibition of brilliant waterways photographs in the top floor gallery of Theatre Severn, near the Welsh Bridge in Shrewsbury. Entitled Canal Boat Lives, there are around a hundred pictures of people who live and work on canal boats and there are extended captions about each. Photographer Gill Shaw of London started taking pictures during the pandemic and built up this collection which she has also published in a book. We have been allowed to have a Branch pull-up banner and leaflets alongside her exhibition which runs until 29 November 2024. Free admission. Alan Wilding
