The group was supporting Buckingham Canal Society in their efforts to restore Bridge 1 at Cosgrove. This was the first hands on work for IWA’s Waterway Recovery Group volunteers since the BCN Cleanup in March. The dig went well, with social distancing and anti-virus measures in place.
An impressive 300 hours were contributed to the project by volunteers over the weekend. Work included moving materials and stone walling around the bridge ramps.
This push will help to move the project towards completion and removal of the piling in October.
London WRG has regular weekend digs, usually every 3 weeks, mainly on the canals of the South of England, but our London volunteers also venture further afield.
