IWA Leicestershire Branch is negotiating to get better facilities and access at Memory Wharf to the City of Leicester. This may include a secure boaters service station with water and sanitation. Sticking points for these facilities have included land rights and access etc.
We have been advised that there will be residential mooring and visitor mooring provided, plus a new facilities at a new service station. We will share more information when available.
Planning has now been been past by the local authority, so we look forward to the project to become a reality.
We are also in the process of bringing back to life the Lime Kiln Lock plaque that was for the 1967 National IWA Rally held at this location. We are investigating at this time on how to proceed. The plaque was heavily drawn on and then painted over in red paint. This also included the lock name board.
