Following increased concerns about the spread of the COVID-19 virus and careful consideration of the safety of everyone involved in planning, organising and attending IWA Canalway Cavalcade – our volunteers and supporters, our attendees, our exhibitors, our partners and their volunteers and staff, we have decided to cancel the 2020 Festival, scheduled for 2nd & 3rd May 2020 in Little Venice.
Paul Rodgers, IWA National Chairman says “It is with great regret and disappointment that IWA has decided not to proceed with our annual spectacular waterside festival at Little Venice, owing to the risk the virus presents to volunteers and all those who attend and support the event. People travel from across the country to visit and celebrate at the capital’s biggest waterside Festival, and with the news that the peak of the virus spread is likely to coincide with the timing of the Festival, we felt cancellation was the right decision to take. The festival team will be contacting our exhibitors and attendees.”
Mark Saxon, Chairman of the organising committee, extended his thanks to everyone involved. “My committee and volunteers have been working tirelessly for the past 9 months to prepare and organise the event and I thank them and the supporters of our wonderful Festival including British Land, Westminster City Council and the Canal & River Trust, and the many other organisations who have been working with us. We look forward to working with you again next year.”
IWA Canalway Cavalcade will return to London’s Little Venice on Saturday 1st May 2021 for the full Early May Bank Holiday weekend.
